Site-based Mentoring

It may sound obvious, but sometimes the best place to help a child realize their potential is at school. Kids enjoy having their Bigs meet with them in a familiar location and volunteers can enjoy the benefits of a more-structured, less time-intensive opportunity.

Bigs and Littles meet one-to-one, typically once a week to read together, play sports or computer games, complete a craft or simply talk about life and personal issues – just as friends do. At the end of the day, it’s really all about starting a friendship, providing guidance and inspiring them to reach their potential.

Current TIME@School Mentoring Opportunities

Bigs meet with their Little to share lunch at the child’s school, then spend time reading for about 15 minutes, playing games, helping with homework, doing art and craft projects, or just talking.

The volunteer time requirement for this program is approximately 60 minutes per week, Monday – Friday. This program is ideal for college students or busy professionals as matches take a break over the summer months and during school holiday breaks.
